Akilah V. Brown ’22 is a senior from Harlem, New York, majoring in political science and philosophy with a minor in business.
While on campus, Akilah serves as the event chair of the Gettysburg African Student Association (GASA) and as a student employee of the Eisenhower Institute. She has participated in the Institute’s Women and Leadership and Inside Civil Rights programs. Her engagements don’t stop there; you may see her involved in many other capacities at Gettysburg College.
In 2020, despite the state of uncertainty caused by the pandemic, Akilah set her sights on studying abroad at Lancaster University in Lancashire, England. While at Lancaster, she took a variety of courses reflecting her interest in contemporary political philosophy and issues of human rights. The year-long abroad experience put into perspective the current events of society and helped reinforce her aims of attending law school following her undergraduate career at Gettysburg.
