


The Grants Committee of the Institute's Board of Directors sets the policies governing the scholarship awards program and selects the winners each year from candidate pools screened by participating high schools and universities.

Michele L. Malvesti is a PhD student at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy of Tufts University. She is currently studying the decision-making process involved in the employment of covert American action as a counter-terrorism response.
The Dwight Eisenhower/Clifford Roberts Graduate Fellowship
Rhonda Evans Case is a PhD student at The University of Texas at Austin. Her work undertakes a comparative study of Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and examines how the internationalization of human rights issues, through various United Nations treaties, alters the patterns and practices of democratic politics in these countries.
Breena Holland is a PhD student at The University of Chicago. Her dissertation develops a new theoretical approach for understanding, debating and making decisions about contemporary environmental problems by overcoming the deficiencies of more traditional economic approaches.
Bonnie D. Jenkins is a PhD student at The University of Virginia in the Government and Foreign Affairs Program. Her dissertation addresses the issue of threat perception and nuclear weapons policy in countries such as the United States, Russia, France, United Kingdom, Israel, India, and Pakistan.
Marcella Ribetti is a PhD student at The University of Texas at Austin. She is studying internal violence in Colombia, and her dissertation develops theories to analyze national internal violence and will make recommendations on how to overcome such violence.
The Dwight Eisenhower/Ann Whitman Scholarship for Perry High School
Alisa Godfrey graduated from Perry High School in the spring of 2001. She will be attending The University of Dayton where she plans to continue being active in musical theatrics while concentrating her academic studies in mathematics.
Laura E. Spencer graduated from Perry High School in the spring of 2001. She looks forward to pursuing courses in English, engineering, or medicine once she has selected her school.
The Dwight Eisenhower/Ann Whitman Scholarship for Spingarn, H.D. Woodson, Ballou, and Eastern High Schools in Washington, DC
Andre A. Turner, Jr. graduated from Spingarn High School in the spring of 2001. He plans to continue engaging in athletics, student government and academic studies in college with a possible major in business administration.
Douglas Desper graduated from Spingarn High School in the spring of 2001. He plans to pursue a joint major in business management and computer science either at Delaware State University or Norfolk State University.
The Dwight Eisenhower/Conrad Hilton Scholarship
Katie L. Westbrook is a senior at Gettysburg College with a double major in management and Japanese studies. With this scholarship she will spend the coming fall semester at Temple University in Tokyo, Japan, continuing her study of the culture and language, as well conducting research for her senior thesis.
