The Eisenhower Institute presents two occasional awards, the Eisenhower Leadership Prize, given annually, and the Distinguished Public Service Award. Established in 1992, the Eisenhower Leadership Prize and the Distinguished Public Service Award are given by the Institute to recognize individuals whose lifetime accomplishments reflect Dwight D. Eisenhower's legacy of integrity and leadership.
The Distinguished Public Service Award goes to individuals or groups demonstrating exceptional service to their community and the American people. Past recipients of this award include Tom Brokaw and Grover Washington, Jr. View all past recipients.
The Eisenhower Distinguished Public Service Award is a crystal vase donated by Steuben Glass of Corning. Steuben glass pieces were the official state gift to heads of foreign countries during the Eisenhower Administration and were greatly admired by the President himself, who had his own personal collection. Today, there are approximately 20 pieces of Steuben showcased in the Eisenhower Museum in Abilene, Kansas.
