Jay Hauser ’19 is a Political Science and Theatre Arts double major from Branchburg, New Jersey.
Jay is a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science National Honor Society, and Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, for which he serves as public relations chair for the Gettysburg chapter. He is a recipient of Gettysburg's Lincoln Scholarship.
In the spring of 2016, Jay was a campaign fellow for Hillary Clinton’s primary campaign in Pennsylvania, for which he recruited volunteers and organized campaign events at Gettysburg College. During the winter of 2017, he interned for State Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker (NJ-16), for whom he communicated with constituents, did legislative research, and proposed legislation. During the summer of 2017, he interned for the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey, with whom he responded to messages regarding potential civil liberties violations, engaged in legal research, and prepared memoranda for the staff. During the summer of 2018, Jay served as a fellow for Tom Malinowski for Congress, working to unseat Leonard Lance (NJ-7).
Jay has served on the executive boards of Outerspace, College Democrats, and Student Musical Theatre. In addition, Jay is heavily involved in the campus theatre community. He has both acted in many campus productions and had many backstage responsibilities.
Jay first became involved with the Eisenhower Institute his sophomore year, when he participated in Inside Politics with Kasey Pipes.
Jay plans to attend law school and pursue a career in public service.
