On Friday, September 5, the Eisenhower Institute will host Ambassador Charles Hill at Gettysburg College. Ambassador Hill, a career foreign service officer, will give a lecture entitled, "Free Speech in Perilous Times" at 7:00 PM in CUB 260. The ambassador is the Diplomat-in-Residence and a lecturer in international relations at Yale University; was a senior advisor to George Shultz, Ronald Reagan, and Henry Kissenger; and most recently, was Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to Rudy Giuliani during his 2008 presidential campaign.

On Monday, September 22, at 7:30 PM, former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman will address Gettysburg College in the Cub Ballroom. Whitman's lecture entitled, "Inside Politics: American Policy at Home and Abroad" is part of the Women's Studies 2008-2009 Speaker Series "Women, Power, and Politics." Whitman became the first woman governor of New Jersey, serving from 1994 to 2001. In 2001, Whitman was appointed Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by President George W. Bush. After Whitman resigned her post following disagreements with the Bush administration, she authored a book entitled It's My Party, Too: Taking Back the Republican Party... And Bringing the Country Together Again and formed a political action committe called It's My Party Too-PAC .
