James L. Banks, Jr.

James L. Banks, Jr. is an attorney practicing with Seyfarth Shaw LLP in its Washington, DC office. His practice focuses on counseling clients on labor and employment matters and litigating employment cases in state and federal courts. He has been named in the "Best Lawyers in America" for its 2006 and 2007 editions.

A 1980 graduate of Gettysburg College (cum laude), Banks went on to earn a law degree from the University of Virginia and a diploma from the Richmond Christian Center School of Ministry. He has a long history of public service having served as a Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney in Richmond, Virginia, as a member of the city council for the City of Richmond, Virginia, and as Vice-Mayor for Richmond. Banks also served as a Substitute Judge in Virginia's Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.

Banks has served on the boards for a number of non-profit and community organizations including the Greater Richmond Area YMCA, the Richmond Boys Choir, and The Valentine Museum.
